After an intensive auditing process, ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services is proud to announce its Responsible Recycling (“R2”) Practices:2013, ISO 14001:2004, and OHSAS 18001:2007 certifications. These certifications represent a core set of standards for creating and implementing stringent and effective environmental management systems. ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services is currently South Florida’s only R2-certified electronics recycler. ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services was established in 2001 as a mission-based enterprise of ARC Broward, a nonprofit human services organization dedicated to providing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and other life challenges. ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services’ audit and certification was performed by Orion Registrar, Inc., USA. The R2 standard sets forth requirements relating to environmental and public health, worker health and safety, security and the entire chain of custody of toxic materials through final disposition. It prohibits e-recyclers and their downstream vendors from exporting these more toxic materials to countries that have enacted laws making their import illegal. Embedded within the R2 standard is ISO 14001 as a framework. R2 Certified recyclers and refurbishers comply with the requirements of the R2 Standard which was developed by the EPA, major manufacturers and recyclers to protect the environment, workers and data security. Each year, R2 Certified companies must prove to be responsible recyclers by passing annual inspections conducted by independent certifying bodies. The OHSAS Standard provides framework for organizations to implement proper and effective management of health and safety in the workplace, while certification to ISO 14001:2004 provides a visible commitment to both customers and the environment.
