ARC Broward Center for Financial Stability Material Handler Course Graduate Lands Job At Electronics Recycling Services

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – (October 1, 2015) – ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services was established in 2001 as a mission-based enterprise of ARC Broward, a nonprofit human services organization dedicated to providing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and other life challenges.

ARC Broward Electronics Recycling services provide hassle-free business solutions including:  state-of-the-art data destruction, asset recovery, and environmentally responsible equipment disposal services for used equipment including computers, servers, networking, telecommunications, monitors, printers, mobile devices and other IT-related equipment.

Zachary Abecassis, a recent graduate of ARC Broward’s Center for Financial Stability’s Material Handler Course has just been hired by Electronics Recycling Services as an Associate Computer Technician. The 12-week program prepares participants for entry-level positions in a light industrial/warehouse setting, and helps to serve as a stepping-stone to enter degree-seeking programs with the basic knowledge of electronics industry.

After Abecassis’ grandmother heard about the programs offered at ARC Broward by reading an article in the paper, she thought it might be the perfect fit for her grandson.  Abecassis was struggling to find his way, and felt completely cut off from everyone.

After enrolling in the Material Handler Course, Abecassis quickly began to find his way. He made friends and excelled in the course work, finding that he really enjoyed the comradery among his fellow students.

“Being able to work with the students and to help build meaningful relationships and friendships is what it’s all about to me,” said Abecassis. “We operate as a team here and that is what fulfills me.”

His job responsibilities include data sanitation and computer refurbishment. He also helped improve efficiency by redesigning the layout for the computer testing area.

“When Zack first started, he kept to himself and really didn’t speak to anyone,” said Tomas Leon ER’s Operations Manager. “He’s done a complete 180 and has truly become part of the team; exactly what the Material Handler program is all about. He is positive and has really helped to change the culture of the warehouse.”

Abecassis is currently working on his A+ Certification and hopes to further his career goals at ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services.

The ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services warehouse is located at 3300 SW 13th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315. For more information about ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services, please visit www.arcbrowarderecycling.com.
