Arlene Sloan is proud to be part of a growing organization.
For three years, Arlene Anzalone-Sloan, current Arc Tech Office Manager, was in the Accounting Department at Arc Broward. She then left. Fourteen years later, Arlene realized how much she missed the nonprofit organization and was hired in her current role. It’s been another three years, and this self-proclaimed “mother,” being the only female on the Arc Tech team, has no plans on leaving again. She’s feels right at home.
“I have always appreciated Arc Broward for its mission of transforming the community by providing opportunities for people with disabilities,” she said. “I am impressed by the nonprofit organization’s growth.” When she initially left, Arc Broward offered numerous for youth and adults – including our preschool, adult day programs and residential living. It later added the three mission-based enterprises – Arc Culinary, Arc Educates and Arc Tech – which provide job training and employment opportunities and generate funds to support programs and services for the individuals Arc Broward serves.
Arlene is the initial person customers speak with when contacting Arc Tech. She is also responsible for the billing, reporting and any other hands-on work that needs to be done at Arc Tech’s 25,000-square-foot warehouse. “We have a great team/family here,” she said. “We are very supportive of each other. Arc Tech is a fun place to work.”
One of Arlene’s favorite parts of the job is interacting with Arc Educate’s Material Handler students, who are enrolled in the 12-week program that prepares them for entry-level positions in a light industrial/warehouse setting. “It has been inspiring to watch them learn and succeed by employment in our community,” she said. “That’s why Arc Broward is ‘Changing Lives, Changing Perspectives.’ The impact the organization has had in our community is immeasurable. I look forward to seeing how we continue to expand our services.”
