Arc Broward’s Second Annual InspHired Luncheon Shines Light on Benefits of Inclusive Hiring on Local Business Community

~ October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month ~

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (August 28, 2024) – Local employers who champion inclusive workplaces as well as those with disabilities pursuing meaningful careers will be honored at the Second Annual InspHired Luncheon presented by UKG on Friday, October 25 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort.

“Every day at Arc Broward, we celebrate and honor the achievements of individuals with disabilities in the workplace,” said Julie Price, Arc Broward president and CEO. “Our InspHired Luncheon is an opportunity to shine a light on the impact our graduates and workforce participants continue to have in the local business community, recognize our community partners for their inclusive hiring practices, and highlight the wide-ranging benefits of hiring a diverse workforce.”

Held during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the event’s proceeds help transform the community by funding high-quality education and intensive workforce programming, ensuring that individuals with disabilities and other life challenges can thrive on career paths that promote self-sufficiency.

“By coming together on this special day to embrace diversity and empower individuals with disabilities, we hope to  inspire a brighter and more inclusive future for everyone,” said Price.

This year’s honorees are: Sofia Fuentes, Mary N. Porter Student Chef of the Year; Janet O’Hara, Moss Foundation Student Leader of the Year;  Kristy Novak, Arc Works Volunteer of the Year; Andrew Garnett, Business Advisory Council Leadership Award; Totally Bananas, UKG Employer of the Year; Christian Costales, Arc Works Participant of the Year;  AB7, Training Site of the Year; and Memorial Healthcare System, Transition Programs Training Site of the Year.

Arc Works offers comprehensive programs to help participants break down potential barriers to success and equip them with the tools and resources needed to thrive. From employment assistance to post-secondary education and financial literacy training, high-intensity bundled services are tailored to meet the unique needs and aspirations of each participant and set them on a path toward sustained self-sufficiency, asset accumulation, and poverty alleviation.
