ARC Broward, a not-for-profit human services organization dedicated to providing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and other life challenges, is hosting a volunteer day for more than 100 Ultimate Software employee volunteers. The volunteer event will take place in honor of the victims of 9/11 on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at ARC Broward’s nine-acre headquarters in Sunrise.
“The individuals we serve and our staff are very excited about Ultimate Software’s volunteer day,” said ARC Broward President/CEO Dennis Haas. “ARC Broward’s nine-acre regional campus was built more than 25 years ago and will benefit greatly from this makeover. We are humbled to be the beneficiary of this outpouring of community service from Ultimate Software and its incredible employees.”
The volunteer day will focus on giving ARC Broward some much-needed facility improvements. Projects to be completed by the Ultimate Software volunteers include: replacing flooring in two classrooms, painting, and tending to the ARC Broward Culinary Institute garden. The majority of the classrooms that will be renovated are part of ARC Broward’s Center for Financial Stability, a comprehensive program that addresses the economic realities and aspirations of individuals with disabilities.
Ultimate Software partners including: GraphPlex Signs, Dade Construction, JC White and Keurig are also donating towards the ARC Broward redesign.
Funded primarily by United Way of Broward County, the goal of ARC Broward’s Center for Financial Stability services is to help participants obtain and maintain employment, complete post-secondary education or occupational skills training and increase knowledge of financial stability concepts and behaviors. Long-term engagement in these services ultimately allows participants to earn, keep and grow assets while remaining employed, out of poverty and achieving self-sufficiency.
