Sunrise, Fla. — Kim Vassar, Chief Advancement Officer at Arc Broward, a nationally accredited not-for-profit organization dedicated to changing the lives of children and adults with disabilities and other life challenges, has been selected for the Leadership Florida 2023-2024 Connect Class. Vassar joined Arc Broward in September 2019, as its Vice President of Philanthropy and was promoted to Chief Advancement Officer in July of 2022. As a key member of the leadership team, she has been instrumental in leveraging philanthropic support and engagement with funders and community at large.
“Kim is a committed and passionate leader who has been an integral part of our success,” said Arc Broward President/CEO Julie Price. “She will be a dynamic addition to the Leadership Florida Class.”
Leadership Florida selected the participants for its 2023-2024 Connect Class program. Leaders from across the state, including corporate executives, business owners, educators, elected officials and non-profit executives, will participate in educational program sessions and meet other leaders from a variety of backgrounds who represent Florida’s diverse composition.
“As the mother of a child with a disability it’s an honor to be able to advocate for individuals with disabilities in our community and throughout the state,” said Vassar. “I am honored and excited to be part of Leadership Florida.”
Leadership Florida’s Connect Class Program—for individuals aged 25-39—is the state’s only leadership program that spans industry boundaries and focuses solely on developing Florida’s existing and emerging leaders. It is comprised of four sessions over a nine-month period in different locations throughout Florida. Each session focuses on key issues and opportunities specific to Florida while intertwining leadership skills and development.
Vassar has over 15 years’ experience in fundraising and development for nonprofit organizations in Broward County. Prior to joining Arc Broward Kim held roles at Pace Center for Girls, Gilda’s Club South Florida and the United Way of Broward County.
Outside of her role at Arc Broward, she recently served as the Board Chair for the Leadership Broward Foundation where she had the opportunity to share her vision and passion for community to help develop, inspire and connect other leaders to serve.
Vassar earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Central Florida where she studied marketing and communications. She is a native of Fort Lauderdale and resides here with her husband and two daughters.
