Audience:

Learning Objectives of the NADSP Code of Ethics Session is for DSPs, FLSs, and staff in organizations providing supports to persons in leading self-directed lives.

Description/Purpose:

If you are ready to join NADSP in promoting a strong foundation of values and ethical practice as a Direct Support Professional, this workshop is at the core of that journey. This is an impactful training specific to the ethical guidelines of this unique and important profession. The goal of this training for DSPs regarding the NADSP Code of Ethics is to bring relevance to these guidelines, which are intended to guide direct support professionals in resolving ethical dilemmas they face every day and to encourage them to achieve the highest ideals of the profession.

Knowledge:

  • Gain awareness of NADSP, the DSP profession, the NADSP Code of Ethics (2016 revised) and its significance in guiding DSPs towards best practice.

Skills:

  • Practice the 9 NADSP Code of Ethics tenets through group activities.

Values:

  • Reflect upon personal values and the commitment to the NADSP Code of Ethics as a foundation guiding ethical decisions of the DSP profession.
