Event Summary This intensive one day course fulfills the annual renewal requirements for currently certified PCM practitioners eligible for annual renewal. The course focuses on practice of the physical strategies taught in the initial PCM course and review of nonphysical strategies. Class Objectives
Describe the importance and rationale for assisting individuals with disabilities in becoming more connected to their communities.
Describe the three perspectives on community connecting.
Describe the concept of a “Social Guide” and a “Community Builder” and apply these concepts to the role of the Direct Support Professional.
4-hour In-Service
Class Objectives:
1. Explain the direct support professional’s role in meeting the daily personal needs of the supported person.
2. Explain the purposes and processes of assisting a person with oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, shaving and lifting and transferring people safely.
