Community Foundation of Broward Awards Arc Broward with $35,000 Grant

SUNRISE, FL – (March 3, 2017) – Arc Broward recently received $35,000 from the Community Foundation of Broward. This has been made possible by support from the following Community Foundation of Broward Funds: Jonathan Dominguez Fund, Susan E. Sachs Field of Interest Fund, Stephen and Ethel Keller Fund, The Charles L. Palmer Family Fund, Harold D. Franks Fund and Frederick W. Jaqua Fund.

The grant will help fund Arc Broward’s new WorkBar, a vibrant and innovative career resource center where community members with disabilities can pursue their career goals, network with members of the business community, attend classes and seminars, and receive help from professionally training career and financial literacy specialists. Located at 735 NE 2nd Ave. in Fort Lauderdale, WorkBar features a 2,600 square foot center that provides a productive environment to keep members connected professionally and socially.

WorkBar is also a resource for workplace diversification training for businesses to learn how to leverage the skills of those with disabilities and ensure a smooth transition of Arc Broward members into the workforce.

“Arc Broward is grateful for the generous support of the Community Foundation of Broward for our WorkBar, a place where our members can foster connections that they otherwise wouldn’t have found in their quest for meaningful careers,” said President/CEO Dennis Haas.
