Arc Broward Awarded $75,000 Grant from Emeril Lagasse Foundation

Funding supports programs that train individuals with disabilities for culinary careers

SUNRISE, Florida (August 19, 2026) – Arc Broward announced it is the recipient of a $75,000 grant from Emeril Lagasse Foundation that expands hands-on culinary training opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The funding will help participants prepare for employment in professional kitchens and food service, building the skills, confidence and workplace experience that lead to lasting independence.

“This grant allows us to give even more individuals with disabilities a real path into the culinary workforce,” said Julie Price, president and CEO of Arc Broward. “Every person who completes our training programs gains more than a skill set. They gain independence, purpose and a place in our community. We’re grateful to Emeril Lagasse Foundation for investing in that future.”

Arc Culinary, a social enterprise of Arc Broward, operates a professional kitchen where students with disabilities train alongside experienced culinary staff, gaining hands-on skills in a real working kitchen environment. Arc Educates, Arc Broward’s other social enterprise, provides training and professional development services, including an entry-level culinary arts certificate program, designed to prepare and upskill individuals of all backgrounds for the workforce.

The $75,000 grant represents proceeds from Line, Vine & Dine 2026, Emeril Lagasse Foundation’s annual charity sailfish tournament and fundraising weekend in Fort Lauderdale. The event raised funds in support of the Foundation’s mission to create opportunities to inspire, mentor and enable youth to reach their full potential.

“We’re proud to support Arc Broward’s culinary education and workforce training programs and the opportunities they create for individuals with developmental disabilities and other life challenges,” said Brian Kish, president of Emeril Lagasse Foundation. “Helping young people gain the experience and support they need to pursue their goals is at the heart of our mission.”

Arc Broward’s workforce and education programs connect individuals with disabilities to employment across South Florida industries including hospitality, material handling, animal care and healthcare operations. In 2026, Arc Broward celebrates 70 years as a leading provider of services that empower individuals with disabilities and their families to thrive.
