WHAT IS VITA?
The VITA Program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally, $54,000 and below). Certified volunteers receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across Broward County.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT TO YOU?
The VITA Program provides FREE tax service to people who earn $54,000 or less and who can benefit from someone preparing their taxes. This is a service to help people keep more of what they earned. The VITA effort is completely FREE and tax volunteers are IRS trained and certified. Ultimately, families will have the chance to save hundreds of dollars if they come to a VITA site.
WHAT IS EITC?
Tax preparers will screen each individual/family for eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). This is a tax credit to help people keep more of what they earned. It is a refundable federal income tax credit for low to moderate income working individuals and families.
